What Gorillas Teach Humans?

When we hear the word "gorilla", many of us instantly imagine power, aggression or danger. But, when we truly observe gorillas in the wild, a very different picture emerges. Gorillas, the gentle giants are listed as endangered species by IUCN.

Gorillas are among the strongest animals on earth, yet they are also among the most gentle.

A silverback gorilla does not lead through fear. He leads through his presence.

Within a gorilla family:

  • Conflicts are rare.
  • Young ones are protected with patience.
  • Strength is used only when absolutely necessary.

This is something modern humans often forget - real strength does not need constant violence to prove itself.

Strength That Protects, Not Dominates

Gorillas live in close-knit family groups.

They communicate through sounds, gestures, and calm body language. Most of the time, they prefer avoidance over confrontation.

Chest-beating, often misunderstood as aggression, is usually a warning - a way to prevent violence, not invite it.

In many ways, gorillas remind us that power can exist alongside compassion.

Why Are Gorillas Endangered?

Sadly, gorillas are now among the most endangered animals in the world.

The biggest threats to gorillas are:

  • Habitat destruction
  • Illegal wildlife trade
  • Human fear and misunderstanding

Gorillas are not violent by nature - they are forced into survival by human actions.

Let us save gorillas and save forests.

  • Similar to Keezhadi excavations which bring to light the rich past of the Thamizh civilization, Thirumoolar's Thirumanthiram draws our attention to the unbelievably rich knowledge possessed by ancient Thamizh civilization in the field of medicine. It will be only right to say that Thirumoolar would have been the world's first anatomical scientist.
