Mudras for Constipation

The most effective mudras for constipation include:

1) Suriya Mudra

Suriya Mudra reduces body heat. It promotes strength. Suriya Mudra is also an effective mudra for reducing excess fat.

Perform suriya mudra for 30 minutes a day. You can practice for 15 minutes, twice a day. You can perform the mudra while walking. The mudra should be practiced with both hands simultaneously.

Instructions
  • Assume Lotus Pose or Thunderbolt Pose.
  • Stretch your fingers.
  • Bend your ring finger and place the tip of the ring finger under your thumb.
  • Bend your thumb and place it on the folded ring finger applying very light pressure.
  • Keep the remaining fingers stretched.
  • Focus on your mudra. Maintain normal breathing.
Note

Those with fever and experiencing excessive tiredness should refrain from practicing suriya mudra. It is also not recommended to practice suriya mudra during peak summer.

2) Varuna Mudra

Varuna Mudra, which relieves constipation, is also an effective mudra for diabetes. 

Varuna Mudra also reduces body heat and prevents dryness of skin.

Instructions
  • Assume Lotus Pose or Thunderbolt Pose.
  • Stretch your fingers.
  • Bring the tips of thumb and little finger together.
  • Keep the other three fingers stretched.
  • Perform the mudra with both hands.
  • Focus on the mudra. Maintain normal breathing.
  • Perform Varuna Mudra for 24 minutes to 48 minutes. You can also practice twice in a day with 12 minutes per session or thrice in a day with 16 minutes per session.
3) Apana Mudra

Apana mudra helps to relieve uterus conditions. It is also an effective mudra for neck pain. 

Instructions
  • Assume Lotus Pose or Thunderbolt Pose.
  • Stretch the fingers of both hands.
  • Bend your thumb and bring the tips of thumb, middle finger and ring finger together.
  • Keep the index finger and little finger stretched. 
  • Hold Apana Mudra for 15 minutes. 
4) Apana Vayu Mudra

Apana Vayu Mudra is one of the most effective mudras for headaches including migraine. Performing Apana Vayu Mudra regularly will aid in relief from constipation.

Instructions
  • Assume Lotus Pose, Thunderbolt Pose or Easy Pose.
  • Place the tip of the index finger on the base of the thumb.
  • Bring the tips of middle finger, ring finger and thumb together.
  • Keep the little finger stretched. 
  •  Practice Abanavayu mudra for 30 minutes everyday. You can practice twice a day for 15 minutes during every session.
